It's getting to be that time of year again!!☀️ The weather is warming up and a backyard BBQ with the family is calling your name!😉 But if you're like us, you probably haven't touched your grill in months... much less cleaned it!😅
So this week we giving you the FULL step-by-step for cleaning your grill so you can kick off the Summer with fresh BBQ on an even fresher grill🤩
Step 1: Preparation📝
Gather all your supplies!!🧽 This is everything I used to clean mine:
Bar Keepers Friend (Optional For Shine)✨
Now, start by ensuring your grill is completely cooled down to avoid any accidental burns🔥. Disconnect the gas supply if you have a gas grill and remove any propane tanks for safety.🧯
Step 2: Scrubbing the Grates🧽
Now, let's tackle the heart of the grill – the grates! Armed with a wire brush or grill scraper, give those grates a good scrubbing to remove any visible debris and leftover food particles.😷 Ensure you scrubbing it good and well as this initial scrape sets the foundation for a thorough clean!!🧼
Step 3: Degreasing with Dawn Power Wash🫧
Next up remove the grates and find a good spot to thoroughly clean them!! I used a table for this part, but if your sink is big enough, that would be the best option!🚰
Spray a generous amount of Dawn Power Wash onto the grates and allow it to penetrate for 10-15 minutes⏱️. This powerhouse cleaner is designed to break down grease and grime without damaging the grill's coating, making your job much easier!! It had so much gunk falling off the grates in minutes!!🤯
Step 4: Scrubbing Away Stubborn Stains⛏️
Once the Dawn Power Wash has had time to work its magic, grab your wire brush once again and give the grates another thorough scrubbing!!!🧽 You'll be amazed at how effortlessly the grime lifts off, revealing the shining metal beneath. For stubborn stains, don't be afraid to apply a bit of elbow grease.💪
Step 5: Rinse and Repeat🚿
With the grates looking sparkling clean, it's time to rinse off any remaining residue! I just used the sink to rinse off all residue (but you could also use the hose or a bucket of water🪣). Ensure all traces of cleaner and grime are washed away.💦 Repeat the process if necessary until the grates are completely clean.🔁
Step 6: Cleaning the Interior💪
Now that the grates are taken care of, let's turn our attention to the interior of the grill.⏎ Remove any parts that can be, to clean seperately.
Then, spray the rest of the interior with some more Dawn Power Wash and get to work on all that debris and ash buildup using a brush or scraper!⛏️ There is SO much gunk down there that you will have to scrub pretty thoroughly😅 Once I scrubbed it down thoroughly, I went in with a rag to get off the grime! I was honestly surprised by how easily it came off after some good scrubbing🤯
Then, if it's still looking a bit gross, you can go back in with a wet sponge on everything to really get all the remaining gunk!!🧽
Step 7: Wiping Down Exterior Surfaces✨
Don't forget to give the exterior of your grill some love too!🥰 Use a microfiber cloth and some more Dawn Power Wash to remove any dirt, dust, or grease buildup! For stainless steel surfaces, a little bit of Bar Keeper's Friend can help restore shine and prevent rust.🤩
Step 8: Reassembly and Final Touches🛠️
With everything cleaned to perfection, it's time to reassemble your grill.🛠️ Replace the grates, burner covers, and any other removed parts, ensuring everything is securely in place!! Refer to the manufacturers instructions if you are having trouble with this!📑 Give the grill one final wipe down with a clean cloth to remove any lingering moisture or cleaner residue.🫧
And you're all done!!🥳 Now, fire up those burners and get ready to impress your friends and family with some delicious grilled creations.🍔 Remember, a clean grill is not only more hygienic but also ensures better cooking results and prolongs the lifespan of your grill.🥰
