Oh no! You were enjoying a relaxing evening when red wine suddenly spills onto your beautiful new carpet…😖 This is usually the moment when panic sets in, and you start frantically scrubbing the stain, hoping to remove it before it sets… right? 🫗
Not this time though!! This time you remember reading a blog post about 3 different effective methods for removing stains and you calmly get right to work😉👇

Club Soda & Salt Method🥤
Plain, unflavored club soda and salt can actually be fairly effective for removing fresh stains like coffee and wine from carpet and upholstery!!☕️🍷 The carbonation and mild acidity in club soda helps break down and lift stains from fabric! 🤯
How To:
Always start by blotting the stain to soak up an excess!! Do not aggresively rub it at this stage or you risk the stain spreading!❌
Pour club soda on it to saturate it completelyI!!🥤 Then let it sit for a few seconds and soak.
Now, pour a generous amount of salt over the entire area.🧂This prevents the stain from spreading or soaking deeper into the carpet fibers!
Let this entire solution sit for 20 minutes or until dry!⏱️
Then vacuum it all up!!💪
If needed, you can repeat this process multiple times until the stain is compeltely gone!🤩
When the stain has been removed, ensure you rinse the area well to ensure no club soda remains!🥤
Note: This method can be very effective, however, depending on the type of material, how long it has sat, and what was spilled, it may not be completely FOOLPROOF. Use at your own discretion‼️
Commercial Cleaner Method🧼
There are many commercial cleaners on the market so it is hard to know which one is the best. However, I have always recommended Resolve Carpet Spray because I have found that it works best for me!!🥰
How To:
Always start by blotting the stain to soak up an excess!! Do not aggresively rub it at this stage or you risk the stain spreading!❌
Then, spray the cleaner over the spot completely and let it sit for about 3 minutes (or however long the bottle recommends).⏱️
Dab it up with a colorfast towel and then repeat the process until the stain is out! 🤩
Once dry, you can go ahead and vacuum up anything remaining!!
Spot/Upholstery Cleaner Method✨
I HIGHLY recommend investing in a nice spot/upholstery cleaner!! It gets stains out in minutes and the carpet will look as good as new!😍
I use the The Bissel Pro Spot Cleaner and it works like a charm. The nstructions for this method are in reference to this cleaner!🥰
How To:
Always start by blotting the stain to soak up an excess!! Do not aggresively rub it at this stage or you risk the stain spreading!❌
Spray the stain with the solution, and then use the attachment to suck up the stain and the excess solution! 🫗
You will probably have to repeat this process for bit, going over the stained area multiple times until it has lifted!!🔁
It should be completely removed within a few minutes!🤯
Always look at the instructions manual to ensure you are getting the best, most efficient use out of the product‼️ Other spot/upholstery cleaners may have different instructions for use than what I described above!
In short, don't panic when red wine spills on your carpet!😉 With these three methods, you can tackle the stain quickly and effectively. Stay calm, act fast, and your carpet will be as good as new in no time! 🍷✨
