Must Know Tips and Tricks for a Spotless Kitchen🌟

Did you know that the kitchen is actually the dirtiest room in your home? 🤯 According to the 2011 NSF International Household Germ Study, the kitchen holds more dirt and bacteria than even a bathroom (unlike most people would assume!). A family of bacteria that includes salmonella and E. coli was found in more than 75% of dish sponges and rags. Insane, right?! 😳

In this week's blog, we're giving you a basic overview of how-to clean your kitchen, + some fun kitchen hacks and gadgets to make your life easier.✨

Cleaning your Kitchen

To start, we split the the intimidating task of cleaning your kitchen into 5 sections:

1. First things first, declutter your kitchen. Put away everything on the countertops, random, cutlery in the dishwasher, etc. While you're doing this, you can also carry around a small microfiber towel and wipe down those small items that sit on your counter (ie. utensil holders, trays, decor). 🍶

2. Now, let's move on to the appliances. Clean all the appliances; stoves, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and the sink! If you have stainless steel appliances, make sure to always wipe down the surfaces with a mixture of warm water and dish soap first to remove all the grim before going in with a good stainless-steel polish. Remember to be cleaning the inside and outside of each!! ✅

3. Next, clean the cabinets. Make sure you have a good wood/cabinet cleaner to ensure your are cleaning effectively and without damaging! Wipe down both the exterior and interior of each of the cabinets to ensure all the dirt and debris is off. If you have the time, it is best to remove all the items from inside the cabinet before you wipe them down; but I typically only do this if I am doing a full kitchen deep clean. 😌

4. Second to last, we leave the countertops. Wait to do these until this step, because if you do them first, you will drop more dirt and debris on them as you are cleaning the rest of your kitchen! Ensure you are spraying the product & leaving it on for at least 30 seconds so the product does it job and can remove those stains and bacteria!

Also, feel free to just push crumbs and dirt to the floor because that's the next step! 🧽

5. Finally, vacuum or sweep the floors. And then top it off with a good mop and let dry! Or you can use a wet dry vacuum to clean your floors in one single step (which means less work for you😉).

Kitchen Hacks

Now, we made a basic list of a few random but must-know kitchen hacks!🤩

  • Cleaning your Blender: There's nothing worse than having to stick your whole hand inside your blender cup to scrub and clean it out every morning after you make your breakfast smoothie. 😩 Try this instead: Rinse out your cup after you're done using it and then fill it with soapy water. Run your blender like you would any other drink and it'll quickly clean the blade and cup itself! Rinse when done and you have yourself a sparking blender in seconds!!

  • Sharpening Knives: Many knife holders have sharpeners built into them, but if you happen not have one of these, we have a quick tip for you!! Grab one of your mugs and flip it upside down. Most mugs have a rough rim on the bottom (to reduce thermal contact with a surface) that is perfect for sharpening your kitchen knives for your everyday needs!🔪

  • Use Newspaper to Clean Windows/Glass Appliances: You can use a glass cleaner for these appliances but this hack actually works better in some instances! Clean windows, glass stovetops, or mirrors with a mixture of vinegar and water, and then wipe them dry with crumpled newspaper. The ink helps to remove streaks and leaves a shiny finish!🪟

  • No Clip to Seal your Bread?: If you're like me and are always losing all your chip/bread clips that keep opened bags fresh, this ones for you! Twist the excess plastic of you bread bag, and then use the extra part to flip around the bread as demonstrated! This will keep you bread from going stale for the next time you make a sandwich. 🥪

  • Cutting Board Sanitizer: Cutting boards can get very dirty and can be hard to clean off all the grease and grim that gets caked on! To naturally clean and remove stains, try sprinkling coarse salt on a it, then rubbing it with half a lemon. It will leave your cutting board smelling and look fresh! 🍋

Kitchen Gadgets

And finally, the best kitchen gadgets we recommend to make your life easier and more organized. 😄

  • Paper Towel Holder - This paper towel holder is perfect for if you do not have a lot of countertop space or just want your countertops to be a little less decluttered! It has a sticky adhesive built in so it can stick on any under cabinet surface! 🧻

  • Dish Dryer - This dish drying rack is perfect to put on your kitchen sink when doing the dishes or any other cooking needs!! It also rolls up so it isn't bulky and taking up space in your cabinets or counter tops!🍽

  • Cord Organizer - This is a perfect cord organizer to stick on to any of your appliances so their cords stay wrapped up and organized! No more appliance cords taking up space and getting tangled in your cabinets. Or you can stick them onto the walls in your kitchen space and wrap up the cords to the appliances that sit on your countertops for a more organized kitchen display! 🔌

  • Over Door Wrap Organizer - These baskets are perfect to put on your cabinet doors to organize kitchen rags and wet cleaning gloves so they aren't scattered all over your countertops or in your cabinets!🧤

  • Oil Dispenser Tops - These tops are perfect to transform your kitchen bottles into pour bottles for easy measuring! They seal to keep the contents fresh and without leakage.🍾

We know how much of a pain the kitchen can be to upkeep and stay looking clean/organized. We hope this post taught you a little something and, in one way or another, made your life easier! 💖
